Episode #010: Lockdown Series; the best bits, part 1
18th March 2020 was a very strange day in the UK - Lockdown was starting. Nick & Linda Castle had made the decision to close their CLO cafes, after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that all ‘unnecessary’ interaction should be avoided. It felt the right thing to close up shop immediately. Then began the 11am Facebook Live (and soon Instagram) to bring the cafe antics to your home.
Like many cafes, up and down the country, CLO has lots of elderly and people who may live alone, or not see many others, and the cafe was their friendship circle. This played heavy on our minds during the business team meeting where the decision was made to close the cafes, Vicki suggested we continue doing our cafe community online, so Linda immediately started a Facebook group “CLO at home, your not on your own”.
We’ve picked out the highlights from 6 days a week of 11am ‘coffee time’ live! From coffee brewing demonstrations, to coffee cocktails, to building rocket launchers, to home schooling its all here. Good days and bad days during this very strange season we’re all going through.
